Assembly and set up
Carefully remove the microscope body from the box and set it on a sturdy, flat surface. Gently remove the microscope head from its packaging and attach it securely to the body with the head locking screw, ensuring careful attention to avoid overtightening.
Remove the protective plastic covers from the eyepiece holders on the microscope head, then insert the eyepieces into their respective holders. This is also the perfect time to place the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port on the top of the microscope and install either a third eyepiece or mount an eyepiece camera (sold separately). Connect the power adapter and attach it to the microscope, plugging it in for use. To activate the microscope, simply press the power button located on the back of the base.
Using the microscope
Power the microscope on and engage the illumination intensity control wheel to set the lamp on the lowest brightness setting.
Clip a slide into the slide holder on the stage. Utilize the X-Y translational control knobs on the right side of the stage to seamlessly move it front to back or adjust the slide holder left to right, ensuring that the specimen is perfectly centered over the bulb.
Carefully adjust the binocular eyepieces, moving them closer together or further apart until you achieve a single, unified view through them. Adjust the bulb brightness to a comfortable intensity using the precision dimmer wheel. Another observer can simultaneously view the image through an eyepiece with the advanced trinocular port. Always initiate with the lowest power objective lens, notably the 4X objective,
centered over the stage. Peer through the eyepieces and gently bring the image into crisp focus by slowly maneuvering the larger coarse adjustment focus knob, drawing the stage closer to the objective. Once an image surfaces, switch to the refined blue fine adjustment focus knob to fine-tune the image for exceptional clarity or to explore various specimen layers. You may also utilize the diopter adjustment control on the eyepiece holder at this juncture to further
enhance image clarity. Navigate through different areas of the slide by using the X-Y translational control knobs to move the slide holder once the specimen is in focus. Escalate the magnification by smoothly rotating the nosepiece clockwise to engage a higher magnification objective, ensuring careful avoidance of
contact with the slide to prevent any potential damage to the glass. Be mindful of the delicate structure of your specimens. the slide, the objective, or both. If you cannot move the objective into place without making contact with the slide, gracefully utilize the coarse focus knob to lower the stage down and away to create sufficient room before altering magnification.
Delicately adjust the focusing ring on the iris aperture diaphragm to enhance the resolution of the image. The condenser can be elegantly adjusted closer to or farther from the stage by rotating the metal knob.
For optimal clarity with the 100X objective, employ the included immersion oil. Gently rotate the nosepiece so that the 100X objective is poised near, yet not touching, the specimen slide. Then carefully place a drop of the included immersion oil onto the cover slip. Gently rotate the 100X objective into place so that it delicately contacts the immersion oil. Adjust focus meticulously until your specimen is perfectly clear. (Note: Post-usage, always tenderly wipe the oil off of the objective lens and cover slip using lens paper lightly moistened with a small amount of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Refrain from using immersion oil with the 4X, 10X, or 40X objectives.) The swing-in and swing-out filter holder is strategically positioned at the base of the Abbe condenser. Swing it out and gently place a 32mm diameter filter into it, ensuring no dust, dirt, or fingerprints mar the filter and the field lens.
Mounting
a camera attachment is seamlessly integrated to enhance your observational experience with precision and ease.
Effortlessly begin by placing the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port located at the top of the microscope. This initial step sets the foundation for a seamless photographic experience. Next, enhance your microscope's capabilities by directly mounting an eyepiece camera (camera not included) onto the adapter. Should you wish to explore the versatility of a C- mount camera (also not included), simply unscrew the top ring from the eyepiece adapter. This easy modification provides you the flexibility to then utilize it as a 1X C-mount to accommodate your preferred camera choice.
The microscope's parfocality between the eyepieces and the trinocular port is meticulously preset prior to shipment, ensuring optimal performance right out of the box. Should any adjustments become necessary, simply rotate the parfocal ring located in the eyepiece adapter to achieve the desired adapter height and maintain perfect parfocality for a flawless imaging experience.
