Assembly and Set-Up Instructions
Gently unbox your microscope and place it securely on a reliable, flat surface to commence assembly. Carefully remove the protective plastic covers from the eyepiece holders. Insert the eyepieces gently into the designated holders for immediate usage. At this stage, you may opt to insert the eyepiece adapter into the top-mounted trinocular camera port. This allows you to either add a third eyepiece or alternatively mount an eyepiece camera for enhanced functionality (camera not included). Secure the power adapter to the microscope and proceed to connect it to a power source. Activate the microscope by pressing the power button located on the back of the base.
Utilizing Your Microscope
Power on the microscope and use the illumination intensity control wheel to adjust the lamp to its lowest brightness setting for initial observation.
Securely position a slide into the stage's slide holder to prepare for examination. Utilize the X-Y translational control knobs located on the stage's right side. These knobs enable precise stage movement front-to-back or lateral adjustments of the slide holder to perfectly center the specimen over the illuminating bulb.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces by moving them closer or further apart until a single, cohesive image is visible through them. Enhance viewing comfort by setting the bulb's brightness to a suitable level using the dimmer wheel.
Always initiate observation with the lowest power objective lens, specifically the 4X objective, ensuring it is centered over the stage for optimal clarity. While looking through the eyepieces, slowly adjust the larger coarse focus knob. This action will bring the stage closer to the objective, gradually bringing the image into focus. Once the image is visible, refine the clarity by switching to the blue fine focus knob. This allows for precise focus adjustments, revealing various specimen layers. For enhanced image sharpness, utilize the diopter adjustment control found on the eyepiece holder to make further clarity refinements. To view different areas of the slide, manipulate the X-Y translational control knobs to reposition the slide holder while maintaining specimen focus.
For increased detail, rotate the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective. Ensure careful execution to prevent contact with the slide, which could damage both the slide and the objective. If transitioning to a higher magnification risks contact, use the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating the necessary clearance before adjusting magnification.
Alter the image resolution by adjusting the focusing ring on the iris aperture diaphragm. Manually adjust the condenser's proximity to the stage by rotating the dedicated metal knob for optimized lighting and focus.
For the best results when using the 100X objective, apply the included immersion oil for enhanced clarity and detail. Gently rotate the nosepiece until the 100X objective lens is positioned close to, but not directly touching, the specimen slide. Next, delicately place a drop of the high-precision immersion oil provided onto the cover slip to prepare for enhanced viewing. With careful precision, slowly rotate the 100X objective into its proper position, ensuring it makes contact with the immersion oil. Expertly adjust the focus until your specimen comes into sharp, crystal-clear view, revealing every intricate detail. (Important Note: After each use, always meticulously wipe the oil from both the objective lens and the cover slip using lens paper lightly moistened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Remember, immersion oil should not be used with the 4X, 10X, or 40X objectives.)
The sophisticated swing-in and swing-out filter holder is strategically located at the bottom of the Abbe condenser for your convenience. Carefully swing it out and insert a pristine 32mm diameter filter, ensuring it remains free from dust, dirt, and fingerprints, protecting both the filter and the field lens.
Integrating a camera attachment.
Insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope, then securely affix your eyepiece camera (not included). For a C-mount camera (not included), simply unscrew the top ring from the eyepiece adapter to transform it into a 1X C-mount adapter.
The parfocality between the eyepieces and the trinocular port is precisely calibrated before shipping to ensure optimal performance. Should adjustments be necessary, rotate the parfocal ring on the eyepiece adapter to modify its height position and achieve perfect parfocality.
