Assembly and set up
Gently remove the microscope from its package and place it on a stable, flat surface, ready for the journey of discovery. Carefully detach the plastic covers from the eyepiece holders on the microscope's head, then smoothly insert the eyepieces into their designated holders. At this stage, you may choose to insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope, whether to place a third eyepiece or to mount an eyepiece camera (camera not included with purchase). Locate and connect the power adapter to the microscope, then plug it into an electrical outlet. Activate the microscope by pressing the power button elegantly located on the rear of the base.
Using the microscope
Power on the microscope and utilize the illumination intensity control wheel to initially set the lamp to its lowest brightness, ensuring gentle light exposure.
Securely clip a slide into the slide holder, elegantly positioned on the stage for examination. Skillfully use the X-Y translational control knobs on the stage's right side to maneuver the stage front to back or shift the slide holder left to right, perfectly centering the specimen over the illuminating bulb.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces closer or further apart until a single, unified image graces your vision through the lenses. Adjust the bulb's brilliance to a comfortable level using the dimmer wheel, ensuring optimal viewing.
Begin with the lowest power objective lens, the 4X objective, precisely centered over the stage for initial observations. Peer through the eyepieces and refine the image focus by gently turning the larger coarse adjustment focus knob, bringing the stage gradually closer to the objective. Further fine-tune image clarity with the diopter adjustment control located on the eyepiece holder, optimizing your view. To explore additional slide areas, use the X-Y translational control knobs to reposition the slide holder once the specimen is in sharp focus.
Elevate your magnification by rotating the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective. Handle with care to avoid contact between the slide and the objective, preventing potential damage to both. If transitioning objectives proves challenging without slide contact, employ the coarse focus knob to gently lower the stage, creating ample space before increasing magnification.
Adjust the iris aperture diaphragm's focusing ring to enhance the image's resolution, capturing the finest details. Manually adjust the condenser's proximity to the stage by skillfully rotating the metal knob, tailoring the focus to your needs.
For exceptional results with the 100X objective, apply the included immersion oil, unlocking unparalleled clarity. Gently rotate the nosepiece until the 100X objective lens is positioned close to the specimen slide, ensuring it is ready for detailed observation without direct contact. Carefully apply a drop of the included immersion oil onto the cover slip, ensuring optimal conditions for high-resolution viewing. Gradually rotate the 100X objective into place, allowing it to delicately contact the immersion oil, setting the stage for enhanced specimen clarity. Meticulously adjust the focus until your specimen is vividly brought into clear view, revealing its intricate details. (Note: After each use, it is imperative to promptly and gently cleanse the oil from both the objective lens and the cover slip using lens paper slightly moistened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Remember, immersion oil is not to be used with the 4X, 10X, or 40X objectives.)
The convenient swing-in and swing-out filter holder is strategically located at the base of the Abbe condenser, offering ease of filter adjustments. Carefully swing out the filter holder and insert a 32mm diameter filter, ensuring the filter and field lens remain pristine, free from dust, dirt, and fingerprints to maintain optical excellence.
Seamlessly mounting a camera attachment
Simply place the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope, allowing you to mount an eyepiece camera (not included) effortlessly. For those preferring a C-mount camera (not included), unscrew the top ring from the eyepiece adapter to utilize it conveniently as a 1X C-mount.
The parfocality between eyepieces and the trinocular port has been expertly preset before shipment to ensure seamless integration. However, if needed, you can adjust the parfocality by subtly rotating the parfocal ring within the eyepiece adapter to achieve perfect harmony.
