Assembly and set up
Carefully remove the microscope body from the box and set it on a sturdy, flat surface. Gently remove the microscope head from the box and secure it to the body using the head locking screw. Exercise care to avoid overtightening, ensuring a snug fit. locking screw, using care not to overtighten.
Remove the protective plastic covers from the eyepiece holders on the microscope's head, and then insert the eyepieces into the holders. At this stage, you may also choose to insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port on the top of the microscope and place either a third eyepiece or mount an eyepiece camera (not included). Next, locate the power adapter and attach it firmly to the microscope, then plug it in. Bring your microscope to life by pressing the power button located on the back of the base.
Using the microscope
Turn the microscope on and utilize the illumination intensity control wheel to set the lamp at the lowest brightness setting.
Secure a slide into the slide holder on the stage. Manipulate the X-Y translational control knobs located on the right side of the stage to maneuver the stage front to back or shift the slide holder left to right for precise centering of the specimen over the bulb.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces closer together or further apart until a single, cohesive image appears when you peer through them. Modify the bulb brightness to a pleasing intensity with the dimmer wheel. Remember, another user can view the image concurrently through using an eyepiece equipped with the trinocular port.
Always commence with the lowest power objective lens, which is the 4X objective, perfectly centered over the stage. As you gaze through the eyepieces, bring the image into focus by gently turning the larger coarse adjustment focus knob, drawing the stage closer to the objective. Once an image manifests, transition to the blue fine adjustment focus knob to meticulously fine-tune for impeccable clarity or to explore the intricate layers of the specimen you are scrutinizing. You may also utilize the diopter adjustment control on the eyepiece holder at this moment to further
fine-tune image sharpness. Examine other sections of the slide by using the X-Y translational control knobs to maneuver the slide holder once the specimen is in focus.
Elevate magnification by rotating the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective, ensuring not to collide with the slide as such impact may compromise Observe the glass surface carefully on the slide, or the objective, or even both. If this isn't possible, and you are unable to adjust the objective without touching the slide, gently use the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating space and distance needed as you prepare to switch magnification. Skillfully adjust the focusing
ring located on the iris aperture diaphragm to refine the resolution of your image. You can manually adjust the condenser by rotating the metal knob. For optimal clarity at 100X objective, use the included immersion oil. Carefully turn the nosepiece close to but not touching your
specimen slide. Add a drop of the provided immersion oil gently onto the cover slip. Slowly rotate the 100X objective into place so it interacts with the immersion oil. Adjust focus until your specimen is clearly visible. (Note: Always ensure to gently wipe the oil from the objective lens and cover slip after use using lens paper lightly moistened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Refrain from using immersion oil with
4X, 10X, or 40X objectives.)
The swing-in and swing-out filter holder, positioned at the bottom of the Abbe condenser, can be swung out to insert a 32mm diameter filter. Ensure it remains free from dust, dirt, and fingerprints for pristine image clarity. camera attachment
To begin, gently position the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port located at the top of the microscope. Securely mount an eyepiece camera (not included) onto it. If you wish to employ a C- mount camera (not included), simply unscrew the upper ring from the eyepiece adapter. This allows you to then utilize it as a 1X C-mount for the camera.
The parfocality between the eyepieces and the trinocular port has been expertly calibrated prior to shipment, eliminating the need for adjustments. However, should it be necessary, you can adjust the parfocal ring within the eyepiece adapter to fine-tune the adapter height position and achieve the desired parfocality.
