Assembly and Set Up: Bringing your microscope to life is a breeze.
Begin by carefully removing the microscope from the box and placing it on a solid, flat surface that ensures stability. Gently remove the plastic covers from the eyepiece holders at the microscope's head and secure the eyepieces snugly into their holders. At this stage, you may choose to enhance your observations by inserting an eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope. Opt to place a third eyepiece or mount an eyepiece camera (not included) for dynamic imaging. Locate the power adapter, attach it to the microscope, and plug it in. Activate the microscope by pressing the power button situated on the back of the base.
Using the Microscope: Witness the world in unparalleled detail.
Power up the microscope and adjust the illumination intensity control wheel to set the lamp to its lowest brightness setting, ensuring optimal light conditions.
Securely clip a slide into the slide holder on the stage, preparing it for examination. Utilize the X-Y translational control knobs on the right of the stage to maneuver the stage front to back or the slide holder left to right, centering the specimen over the bulb with precision.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces to achieve a single, unified image, whether by bringing them closer or moving them further apart. Tailor the bulb brightness to your comfort level using the dimmer wheel for an optimal viewing experience.
Begin your observation with the lowest power objective lens, the 4X objective, perfectly centered over the stage to initiate your exploration. Further enhance image clarity by using the diopter adjustment control on the eyepiece holder, refining your observation to perfection. Explore different parts of the slide using the X-Y translational control knobs to navigate the slide holder, keeping the specimen in sharp focus.
Elevate your observation by gently rotating the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective. Exercise caution to prevent contact between the slide and the objective, preserving the integrity of both. If adjusting to a new objective causes contact with the slide, use the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating space for safe magnification changes.
Modify the resolution with finesse by adjusting the focusing ring on the iris aperture diaphragm. Achieve the perfect spotlight on your specimen by manually adjusting the condenser closer to or further from the stage, using the metal knob.
For optimal performance with the 100X objective, apply the included immersion oil to enhance your viewing experience. Gently rotate the nosepiece to position the 100X objective lens near, but not directly on, the specimen slide. This ensures optimal proximity for a high-quality view. Subsequently, place a drop of the provided immersion oil onto the cover slip. This oil acts as a bridge for enhanced image clarity and resolution. Carefully rotate the 100X objective into place until it makes contact with the immersion oil, creating a seamless view for intricate observation. Adjust the focus meticulously until your specimen is rendered with pristine clarity and sharpness, revealing the finest details. (Note: Immediately after using the microscope, it is critical to delicately wipe the immersion oil off the objective lens and cover slip using a lens paper lightly moistened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Avoid using immersion oil with the 4X, 10X, or 40X objectives to maintain their integrity.)
The swing-in and swing-out filter holder is conveniently located at the base of the Abbe condenser, facilitating easy access for filter adjustments. Swing the holder out and position a 32mm diameter filter into it, ensuring that dust, dirt, and fingerprints are kept clear of both the filter and the field lens for optimal performance.
Mounting a camera attachment
Insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope and attach an eyepiece camera (not included) directly onto it. For those preferring a C-mount camera (not included), simply unscrew the top ring from the eyepiece adapter to convert it into a 1X C-mount adapter.
The parfocality between the eyepieces and the trinocular port has been perfectly calibrated prior to shipment, eliminating the need for adjustments. Should adjustments be necessary, however, gently rotate the parfocal ring on the eyepiece adapter to fine-tune the adapter's height and maintain parfocality.
