Always commence your investigation with the 4x objective lens, ensuring it is centered over the stage to start at the lowest magnification. Gradually turn the larger coarse adjustment focus knob to bring the stage closer to the objective, allowing the image to come into clear focus.
As the image becomes visible, transition to the blue fine adjustment focus knob for refined clarity and exploration of the specimen's layers. Gently maneuver the slide across the stage to examine different portions of the specimen slide in detail.
To enhance magnification, smoothly rotate the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective, taking care to avoid contact with the slide. Should the objective fail to move without interference, use the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating ample space before changing magnifications.
For incident mode exploration, switch the illumination to the integrated upper light. Position a solid specimen, such as hair or pollen, onto the stage with objectives set at the lowest magnification. Replicate focusing steps to observe magnified details with precision.
