Gently open the protective Styrofoam packaging, ensuring no parts remain attached inadvertently to the packing materials during their removal. Retain all packing materials until every component has been fully identified and verified for a complete inventory check.
When handling components, particularly optical lenses, avoid direct contact with lens surfaces. Fingerprints and grease significantly diminish image clarity.
Ensure the microscope assembly occurs on a flat, stable surface to maintain stability throughout its use.
II. Using the Microscope
Interpupillary Adjustment
Adjust the eyepiece tubes so that a single circular field is visible through both eyepieces, ensuring a seamless viewing experience. If two distinct circles appear, the interpupillary distance is too wide; if the circles overlap, the distance is too narrow, necessitating further adjustment. The eyepiece tube allows for flexible interpupillary distance adjustment between 54 to 76mm, accommodating various users with ease.
Focusing the Microscope
Use the dual side focusing knobs to bring the specimen into sharp focus. These knobs guide the microscope's vertical movement through a sophisticated 'rack and pinion' mechanism. Adjust tension using the tension knob found within the right focusing knob for optimized control.
Begin with the highest magnification setting for initial focus. If the specimen is not clear, adjust the microscope's height on the pole. Secure it with the locking screw and support collar to maintain stability.
