I. Assembling the microscope
The components for the S7 series microscopes are shipped detached for protection. Carefully open the Styrofoam packaging, ensuring that no components are inadvertently left attached to the packing materials being removed. Retain all packing materials until every component has been fully identified and verified.
When handling components, especially optical lenses, it's crucial to avoid touching lens surfaces with bare hands, as fingerprints and grease reduce image clarity.
Ensure that microscope assembly is performed on a flat, secure surface to guarantee stability during usage.
II. Using the microscope
Interpupillary adjustment
Adjust the eyepiece tubes until you see a single circular field through both eyepieces, ensuring a cohesive viewing experience. If two distinct circles are visible, the interpupillary distance is excessive; if overlapping circles appear, the distance is insufficient, indicating the need for adjustment. The eyepiece tube offers adaptable adjustment of interpupillary distance from 54 to 76mm to suit various users.
Focusing the microscope
Focus on the specimen using the dual side focusing knobs. These knobs adjust the microscope's vertical movement via a precise 'rack and pinion' mechanism. Tension adjustments can be made with the tension knob within the right focusing knob.
Initially, use the highest magnification setting to focus. If the specimen remains unclear, adjust the microscope's height on the pole. Always secure the height with the locking screw and support collar afterwards.
