Assembly and Set Up
Gently remove the microscope from its packaging and place it securely on a stable, flat surface to begin your exploration. Carefully remove the protective plastic covers from the eyepiece holders on the microscope's head, and position the eyepieces within the holders for optimal viewing. Consider inserting the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope, allowing for the addition of a third eyepiece or the mounting of an eyepiece camera (sold separately). Connect the power adapter to the microscope and plug it in. Activate the microscope by pressing the power button located on the back of the base.
Using the Microscope
Power on the microscope and utilize the illumination intensity control wheel to begin with the lamp set to its lowest brightness setting.
Secure a slide within the slide holder on the stage to commence your observation. Manipulate the X-Y translational control knobs on the stage's right side to navigate the stage front-to-back or slide holder left-to-right, centering the specimen over the light source.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces' spacing until a single, clear image is visible through them. Calibrate the bulb brightness to a comfortable level using the dimmer wheel.
Initiate your examination with the lowest power objective lens, specifically the 4X objective, ensuring it is centered over the stage. Peer through the eyepieces and refine the image by gently turning the larger coarse adjustment focus knob to elevate the stage towards the objective. Upon image formation, shift to the blue fine adjustment focus knob to hone clarity or explore various specimen layers. Employ the diopter adjustment control on the eyepiece holder to further enhance image clarity if needed. Examine additional slide sections by using the X-Y translational control knobs to adjust the slide holder once the specimen is focused.
Escalate magnification by rotating the nosepiece clockwise to a higher magnification objective, carefully avoiding contact with the slide to prevent potential damage to both the slide and objective. Should contact arise, utilize the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating sufficient space before adjusting magnification.
Adjust the focusing ring on the iris aperture diaphragm to precisely alter the image's resolution. Manipulate the condenser manually, drawing it closer to or distancing it from the stage by turning the metal knob.
For optimum performance using the 100X objective, apply the provided immersion oil for enhanced clarity. Skillfully rotate the nosepiece, positioning the 100X objective close to, yet not fully engaging, the specimen slide for precision observation. Carefully apply a drop of the included immersion oil onto the cover slip, ensuring optimal visual clarity for your observations. Gently and precisely rotate the 100X objective into position, allowing it to make contact with the immersion oil for enhanced viewing. Meticulously adjust the focus until your specimen is rendered with crystal-clear precision, capturing every intricate detail. (Note: Post-examination, promptly and delicately cleanse the oil off the objective lens and cover slip using lens paper lightly moistened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Remember, the 4X, 10X, and 40X objectives are unsuitable for immersion oil application.)
The innovative swing-in and swing-out filter holder is conveniently located at the base of the Abbe condenser, ensuring easy filter access. Effortlessly swing it out to place a 32mm diameter filter, taking care to avoid contamination from dust, dirt, or fingerprints on both the filter and field lens.
Mounting a camera attachment
Seamlessly insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope, allowing you to easily mount an eyepiece camera (not included). For a C-mount camera (not included), simply unscrew the top ring from the eyepiece adapter, transforming it into a 1X C-mount for your camera.
The parfocality between eyepieces and the trinocular port is expertly pre-set before shipping, negating the need for adjustment. Should it be necessary, however, rotate the parfocal ring within the eyepiece adapter for precise height and parfocality adjustment.
