Assembly and set up
Gently unpack the microscope and place it on a stable, flat surface to begin your exploration. Remove the protective plastic covers from the eyepiece holders located on the microscope's head. Carefully insert the eyepieces into place. Optionally, insert the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope. You can then add a third eyepiece or mount an eyepiece camera (sold separately) for enhanced capabilities. Locate the power adapter, attach it securely to the microscope, and plug it into a power source. Activate the microscope by pressing the power button located on the back of the base.
Using the microscope
Begin by powering the microscope on and adjusting the illumination intensity control wheel to set the lamp to its lowest brightness setting.
Carefully clip a slide into the slide holder positioned on the stage to commence observation. Utilize the X-Y translational control knobs situated on the stage's right side to move the stage forward or backward, and adjust the slide holder left or right, centering your specimen directly over the bulb.
Adjust the binocular eyepieces closer together or further apart until a single, clear image emerges as you look through them. Modify the bulb's brightness to a level that is comfortably visible using the dimmer wheel.
Commence observation with the lowest power objective lens, the 4X objective, positioned centrally over the stage. Peer through the eyepieces and gradually turn the larger coarse adjustment focus knob, bringing the stage closer to the objective, until the image begins to clear. Once the image is visible, switch to the blue fine adjustment focus knob for precise clarity and the ability to visualize various layers of the specimen in intricate detail. Enhance image clarity further by utilizing the diopter adjustment control found on the eyepiece holder. Explore different sections of your slide by operating the X-Y translational control knobs, moving the slide holder once the specimen is clearly in focus.
To increase magnification, carefully rotate the nosepiece clockwise to select a higher magnification objective. Ensure the slide is not in contact with the objective to prevent potential damage. If repositioning the objective proves difficult without contact, utilize the coarse focus knob to lower the stage, creating space before adjusting magnification.
Adjust the focusing ring on the iris aperture diaphragm to refine the image resolution, tailoring it to your observation needs. The condenser's position can be manually adjusted towards or away from the stage by turning the metal knob, allowing for tailored light intensity.
Achieve optimal results with the 100X objective by applying the included immersion oil, enhancing detail visibility. Begin by carefully rotating the nosepiece, gently positioning the 100X objective lens close to your specimen slide without any direct contact. Next, apply a drop of the premium immersion oil provided onto the surface of the cover slip to enhance clarity. Delicately rotate the 100X objective into the immersion oil, ensuring optimal contact for superior resolution. Adjust the focus meticulously until your specimen reveals itself in stunning clarity and detail. (Note: Post-experiment, it is crucial to gently clean the oil from the objective lens and cover slip using lens paper slightly dampened with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Refrain from using immersion oil with the 4X, 10X, or 40X objectives.)
Discover the convenience of the swing-in and swing-out filter holder, located at the base of the Abbe condenser for effortless filter changes. Simply swing it out and insert a 32mm diameter filter, ensuring no dust, dirt, or fingerprints compromise your work.
Enhance Your Viewing Experience with a Camera Attachment
Easily place the eyepiece adapter into the trinocular camera port atop the microscope. Attach your eyepiece camera directly, or if favored, remove the top ring to utilize a C-mount camera for seamless integration.
Our microscopes offer convenience with pre-set parfocality between eyepieces and the trinocular port, eliminating the need for adjustments. If necessary, use the parfocal ring on the eyepiece adapter to fine-tune the adapter height and parfocality.
