Gently unseal the Styrofoam casing, taking care to remove all components without leaving any part behind, nestled within the packaging. Keep all packaging materials intact until you've identified and verified each component's presence.
Handle each component with precision, especially optical lenses. Avoid touching the lens surfaces with bare hands, as fingerprints and grease can significantly reduce image clarity.
Ensure that the microscope assembly is executed on a secure, flat surface to maintain stability and performance during use.
II. Using the microscope
Interpupillary adjustment
Adjust the eyepiece tubes meticulously until you observe a single, unified circular view through both eyepieces, ensuring a seamless viewing encounter. If two distinct circles are visible, the interpupillary distance is too wide; if overlapping circles appear, the distance is too narrow, signaling an adjustment is required. The eyepiece tube is equipped with flexible adjustment for interpupillary distance ranging from 54 to 76mm, accommodating a variety of users.
Focusing the microscope
Focus with precision on your specimen using the dual side focusing knobs, which adjust the vertical movement of the microscope via an accurate 'rack and pinion' mechanism. The tension knob on the right focusing knob allows for tension adjustments to suit your preference.
Start with the highest magnification for focusing. If clarity is not achieved, adjust the microscope's height using the pole. Always secure the desired height with the locking screw and support collar afterwards.
